A Day in the Life
- Three, 12 hour shifts in an acute care setting
- Patient Population
- Adults aged 18 and older
- Wide variety of acute issues from chronic diseases, medical complications, and post surgical patients
Job Responsibilities
- Med-Surg nurses have one of the most complicated patient populations so job responsibilities/actions may change per each patient.
- Some examples include: Admission, system assessment, new diagnosis education, medication administration, bedside procedures, pain management, patient advocate, equipment management, facility transfer, wound care, and central Line maintenance/IV access
